In an effort to learn the program Adobe After Effects we decided to create a minutes worth of footage to promote the Entertainment channel E4. All the Illustrations were created first of all in Illustrator, then exported into After Effects and animated using various different 'Comps' or Compositions which act in a similar way to Photoshop Layers, only much more powerful.

Karima Francis

Karima Francis is a Acoustic guitar player and singer/songwriter from Blackpool, who moved up to the Manchester Area to get signed to a record firm. In this University Brief we met with Karima, and spoke to her on how she wanted us to promote her promotional record, The Author.

The Brief involved creating 2 Promotional CD's. One which was designed to promote Karima Herself, and another which was to be part of a larger campaign, with a more conceptual background.

The overall concept behind the marketing Campaign was where Karima had come from, Blackpool. It was a location close to her heart so a lot of location shooting was needed. The stormy weather and grey atmosphere lent itself well to the Melancholy yet Powerful tone of her music.

Trying to get the design for Karimas' new logo was one of the biggest challenges of the brief. These are just a few of the different ideas which were ran past Karima, until the final design was chosen, due to both its impact and the broken nature working well with the Photography.

The Design for Karima Francis' new website continued the 'landscape' side scrolling concept of the Piers at blackpool. Hence all the different elements on the site would scroll horizontally instead of vertically. The color scheme retained the grey tones from the album, so that the content itself would leap out at the viewer.

Wireless

The Wireless Project was a promotion for a fictional Lifestyle Store in America, designed to promote British design abroad. The theme I centered on revolved around the old fashioned Ealing Comedies, with stylistic influence taken from Ronald Searle's St Trinians books.

The project included a website, Shopping Bag, Invite to the opening and a Double page spread in magazines Arena and i-D.

This was a mockup for the Carrier bags which would promote the store. Each one had the address and website on the front, and a floorplan on the back for easy navigation.
